SNV supports new, pioneering Clean Cooking Investment forum

September 2018

Event

On 5-6 November 2018 in Kigali, Rwanda, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (the Alliance) and the Energy Private Developers Rwanda (EPD) will host the 2018 Clean Cooking Investment Forum in Kigali, Rwanda.

About the Event

The Forum is a landmark, first-of-its-kind private sector-oriented conference to convene business leaders, investors, donors and government representatives to collaborate on developing an industry at scale to deliver affordable, modern, clean cooking solutions around the world, with a special focus on East Africa.

The event is supported by the Ministry of Infrastructure Rwanda (MININFRA), the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the EU Delegation in Rwanda, GIZ Energising Development programme(EnDEV), SNV, Shell Foundation, BFZ and the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP).

The focus of Clean Cooking Investment Forum

This year’s Global Tracking Framework update in Lisbon revealed that the progress towards universal access to clean cooking solutions is barely keeping pace with population growth. At the same time, there are new innovative business models emerging with viable solutions to clean cooking but require further investment for scaling up.

This event aims to scale up all efforts to identify, support and finance businesses that have the potential to massively expand this still nascent sector. The event will inform and influence the private sector and those with the ability to accelerate access to quality solutions through viable business models at scale.

SNV at the Event

SNV experts Martijn Veen and Josh Sebastian respectively will moderate and participate in a panel discussion entitled “Results-based financing and other innovative financing structures to grow the clean cooking sector”. The session will take place on November 6, at 11:45 am. The full list of panellists can be seen below.

  • SNV – Martijn Veen (Moderator)
  • SNV – Josh Sebastian
